I cannot find a standard field holding the ‘Actual Revenue Labor’. Does it have a different name, or is it deliberately missing for some reason?

I can see these standard fields and the lack of Actual Revenue Labor is very obvious:

  • Actual Cost
  • Actual Cost Labor
  • Actual Cost Non-Labor
  • Budgeted Cost
  • Budget Cost Labor
  • Budget Cost Non-Labor
  • Expected Revenue
  • Expected Revenue Labor
  • Expected Revenue Non-Labor
  • Actual Revenue
  •
  • Actual Revenue Non-Labor

If it is really missing, does anyone have the appropriate formula  for me to use to have a custom field to store this (would Actual Revenue - Actual Revenue Non-Labour work, or would it need to take into account other revenues (e.g. fixed price work items) and is it dependant on the billing type)?

Thanks

Hello @julianm - To create a custom field for 'Actual Revenue Labor,' you could potentially use the formula: Actual Revenue - Actual Revenue Non-Labor. This approach assumes that the remaining revenue after subtracting non-labor revenue would be attributed to labor. However, this calculation might need adjustments based on your specific billing types and project setups, such as fixed price work items or capped times and materials billing types, which can affect how revenue is recognized and reported.

It is important to consider the billing type and any fixed price agreements, as these can influence the actual revenue calculations. Therefore, you may need to adjust the formula or approach based on these factors. Here are a few resources that could be of great help -

Thanks @Aayush for the comments. I do understand that I could create a custom field as you suggest, but also realise that due to having to take into consideration all the factors you list, it is not easy to get it right. I was hoping that someone here might have already worked out the logic to get this correct which they could share. Or, better still hoping PlanView would take the hint and add this as a standard field 🙂
