In the Formula Options for a workflow, “IsMemberofBusinessUnit” appears in the list of available functions. I cannot find any documentation on this. It sounds as tough it coulb be very useful.

I’d be grateful if anyone can point me to documentation about this function, or anything about how to set up Business Units and to add users/resources to a Business Unit?

Thanks

Julian

Hello julianm,

The IsMemberofBusinessUnit is a formula function available in the Planview AdaptiveWork workflow editor that allows you to check if a user belongs to a specific business unit. This can be particularly useful when creating workflow rules that need different actions based on the user's business unit membership.

To set up and manage Business Units:

  1. Go to the Administration section
  2. Navigate to the Business Units area
  3. Here you can:
    • Create new business units
    • Edit existing business units
    • Configure business unit settings
    • Assign users to specific business units

Once you have set up your business units and assigned users, you can use the IsMemberofBusinessUnit function in your workflow rules to create conditionals based on business unit memberships.

This function is particularly valuable for organizations that need to create different workflow behaviors based on business unit affiliations.

Configurations Overview

Hi @AshikaGS

Thanks for the reply. This does sound like something that would be very useful for me.

I am though still struggling to understand how to manage Business Units as I cannot find them in my System Settings, Profiles nor Configurations within Settings. Please can you explain what you mean by your step 1 - “Go to Administration section”.

Is Business Units available as part of General Release, or is it a Controlled Release?

Thanks

Julian

Hi @julianm

Business Units is an on demand functionality and is therefore not visible to you at this stage
