When selecting a risk to delete you are presented with the option to unlink or delete. When deleted, should the risk appear in the Recycle Bin? We couldn't find deleted risks reported by a PM in our Production Recycle Bin and when testing in our Sandbox the deleted risk also did not appear in the Recycle Bin. Is this expected behaviour?

Hello @FWalker
The deleted risks should move to the Recycle Bin and remain available for restoration. However, since the deleted risks are not appearing in either Production or Sandbox, this behavior appears inconsistent with the expected functionality.

Given that, I recommend:

  • Confirming whether this could be a permissions-related limitation (i.e., access to view deleted items in the Recycle Bin).

  • Documenting the exact steps performed, along with the expected versus actual outcome.

  • Reaching out to Planview Support to validate whether this is expected behavior or a potential defect.

The discrepancy warrants further investigation with the technical support team.

When deleting a risk, you choose delete link or risk. Risk is an object and there is another object for “linking” the risk to another object, like a project or task. I’m guessing only the link was deleted which leaves the risk object intact. Global search for the Risk, or go to a project → risks → Add EXISTING → and you should be able to find the risk to link it to another project. To test: create new risk and delete not the link for the risk itself, check the recycle bin.

Thank you Jeff - we realised users were not paying attention and selecting ‘unlink’ instead of ‘delete’ risk. We are therefore revising our environment, removing the ability to unlink. Than you for your response
