I have a number of tiles set up for specific individuals and/or roles.  For ease. I’d like to link to them directly, from Planview.Me.  IK can’t find any way to get the direct URL, and the browser URL does not change based on the tile selected.  Is there a way to do this?  Thank you.

@MartinL - are these RDL report driven tiles, not metric tiles?  If so when you add it to your ribbon can you click on the “Open in Full Screen mode” icon in the upper right to open in a separate window?  If so this should then be able to provide you with a URL I believe.

Good Luck

@pamela.sargent thanks for the response.  I’m not sure what RDL is, however there is no link in the top right, like I see for Work Showcase Dashboard, for example.  These are tiles I have created using Analyze, with specific criteria e.g. line of business, or project manager.  Doing this was far more effective than individual portfolios & definitions.

@MartinL - Ah, okay that does make a difference.

In case you want to know 🙂 There are different types of tile reports that Admins can create:

  1. Metric tile - these are typically identified by a metric count in the tile.  When an Admin creates these they are creating a Custom Table. The SQL is added into the tile definition directly in the UI.
  2. Report - we, at NASCO, utilize a file type called RDL. These are custom reports that are created by writing SQL in a different tool like Report Builder. The report is stored on the report farm/server and the tile points to that specific file.
  3. Power BI - these are the interactive dashboard reports that are usually a PBIX file. These are good for on screen views but not exports

Analyze tiles are viewed as a type of report but for me I consider them more of a conditional formatting of a UI view. You are correct that these do not have the full screen view like other tiles do. My suggestion would be to submit a case to PV and ask if there is anyway to identify a specific URL to an Analyze tile. I poked around and could not find anything that would provide this information, sorry.

If you do find a way it would be great if you could share that information.

Best of luck,

Good info.  The reason I like Analyze, is for the conditional formatting, and that the data is immediately updated, no waiting for an overnight data refresh. :)

We’re moving down a PowerBI route, but again, the quick Analyze approach works well for us at this point.

Good suggestion on PV support - opening a ticket now. 👍

I followed up with Planview Support.  There is no way to link to a Tile directly.  I’m going to ask for it to be added to an enhancement backlog… :-(

@MartinL - I was afraid that was going to be their response. Thank you for the follow-up.
