We were in the process of testing mobile access to portfolios in our sandbox environment. After the update last night, the option is gone to enable it and we can no longer access it. Does anyone know what happened to it? I looked through the October release slides and did not see any information about it.

I’ve submitted a case but have not had any resolution yet. If it was caused with the October update, Production will be updated Tomorrow night. Hopefully it does not impact it.

So the update to production last night did take the mobile access option away. Hopefully it did not impact anyone.

Hi @Mario.munoz

That’s the October Update, you might be right. You can raise a case to CC and ask them to run the following script to re-enable this manually:

update ip.global_options set option_value='Y' where option_id in ('2315', '3100', '1953')

It will update the following Global Options:

@Mario.munoz - curious if you ever received an explanation from Planview as to why that Global Option was removed.  Is it not needed anymore and just the feature on the licenses?

Thanks

Pam

I have not yet received an explanation as to why it has been removed from Global options > Optional Products. They were able to run a script and enable it however it still does not appear under optional products.

I finally heard back from support regarding mobile access on why it has been removed from Global Options.

The 'Global option' for mobile access was hidden starting with the October release, as it was utilized by only a few customers. We learned about this change after consulting with our developers. We apologize for providing incorrect information earlier.

Moving forward, enabling or disabling this option will require a script to be executed after raising a support case. You may have received an email from Planview toward the end of last month or the beginning of this month regarding this update.

@Mario.munoz thanks so much for the added information. We did not receive any communication so this is definitely good to know. Appreciate you digging into this and sharing with others.

We didn’t receive any information regarding this on the October release either. Hopefully they will update their documentation to say you need to submit a case to enable it now.

Hi Mario,

We’ve got the Mobility content included in the “Deprecation” set now, https://success.planview.com/Release_Information/Planview_Enterprise_One_Product_Releases_(Version_15_to_October_2022)/Deprecations_for_Planview_Portfolios_and_Planview_Enterprise_Architecture. Going forward, are we are going to be positioning Planview.Me/Overviews as the recommended mobile option: Planview.Me views (widgets to support approvals, quick status and attribute updates, insights about your Planview data, and much more).

For customers who absolutely need to continue using the “Mobility” screens, we do have that short-term option to request it to be enabled as you mentioned above. However, this will be removed entirely once we can support all mobility use cases through the PV.Me, likely sometime in the next year. We will make sure to communicate that change ahead of time with customers still using the “Mobility” functionality.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly, espeterson@planview.com if you’ve got any other questions/concerns on this.

Erik
