Hey, new to Portfolios administration here.  Is it possible to move PPL level work within the Work Structure?  With Resources, we can cut/paste a resource to a new branch.  However, with work there doesn’t seem to be a cut or copy option to move an entire project to another branch in the structure.

@Whit Anthony - when we need to move work we either

  1. Go into work detail and change the value in the Parent Description field, which changes the location within the wbs...or
  2. Use Web Services/ Rest APIs, if we need to move more than a handful.

We were focusing on the L5 attribute, which happens to be the same value as the Parent Description in our configuration.

@Whit Anthony - You should be able to cut/paste levels that are not the project level. When you click on it within your Work Structure do you not see the cut option? You would want to cut/paste it at the same level within another branch. So if you cut an L5, with projects underneath of it, then you would need to paste in at another L5 level. 

 

@pamela.sargent - Yes, I can cut/paste at any other level.  I didn’t mean to confuse the subject.  Our PPL is L6, so cut/paste L6 Work to another L5 is the only item not permitted.  Updating the Parent Description through a configured screen solved our problem just fine.
