Our company was on the early release and trials for CoPilot with Portfolios.

We asked our users for feedback on how AI could add value to our Planview Portfolios ecosystem

One of our users had the suggestion to use AI to auto test new releases.

  1.  AI could analyse our database to understand our config and our user journeys so as then to learn what outcomes were expected from each user journey
  2. AI could then repeat these journeys in our sandbox on new releases and confirm which “user journey outcomes” were the same as before and “which were different”

AI testing of upgrades would save Planview and the Clients much time - resulting in more clients being able to take on more regular upgrades and avoiding customer service impact for client and Planview in addressing bugs in our Production database.

Qs

  1. Is this idea feasible for Planview to trial - is Gen AI capable of this yet ?
  2. Do other customers like this idea
  3. Can we forsee any issues or risks with this approach

I look forward to a good discussion.

If this idea is possible, it would be very valuable to all - I suggest :)

@Bruce Porter Hi,

Thanks for sharing this idea—it’s a creative and forward-thinking use of AI in the Planview ecosystem. Automating upgrade testing with AI could significantly reduce effort and risk, though feasibility depends on factors like data access, security, and complexity. We’ll review it with the broader team to see how it aligns with our CoPilot and AI roadmap.

Thanks Partha.    Testing Releases is a big problem for clients and I know its also a big issue for Planview - who cannot test Releases with all clients.  We would see huge benefit from this :)

This idea should be pretty straight forward

  1. Capture 90% of the most frequent user journeys
  2. Pre Upgrade :  Perform these journeys can capture the outcomes
  3. Post Upgrade:   Ditto - and compare the outcomes
  4. If the outcomes match - happy days 🙂 if not, share with Planview Dev team to address

Plus, a follow on user case here could build upon AI having access to our Config and User Journeys - as AI could then

  1. Inform Planview Inc around how clients have customised Portfolios
  2. Allow AI (Planview) to advise clients where they may have over customised or may be missing an opportunity
  3. Allow AI to provide improvement recommendations based upon user journeys
