Hello AW community,
Another Document Publisher question to find the right way for this advanced configuration…
Use Case:
I have a DocPublisher template that requires links back to Project in four ways…
- Project Link - Link in Word docx that will allow the reader to link back to the Project details page.
- Roadmap Link - typically DocPub uses a format thumbnail that shows the roadmap within the word docx. However, I am looking for a basic URL link back to AdaptiveWork that will bring up the Roadmap view only
- Gantt Link - Same as Roadmap Link above.
- Tasks Link - This is at the task table level that runs through and lists all tasks that meet the criteria for the current/next period, etc. Looking to set the Task name column as a url link back to the task in AdaptiveWork.
- A possible secondary solution could be to have a static custom field that shows the task URL and pull that into a separate column with the caption “Task Link” or similar. However, I would likely run into the same issues as above with Project, Roadmap, and Gantt links.
Note: These are based on links that are available in the Project Highlight Report. The difference is that my end-user wants the document to be in word format that can be emailed as well as attached to the Project when ran, not an html email.
Also, I do not want the full URL which is very long. I want a short name link in the table cell. For example…
Project TEST1 (shown with the name of the Project ($Name) and as a URL link.
Roadmap View (Url link to Roadmap view in AdaptiveWork)
Gantt View (URL link to Gantt View of Project Work Plan in AdaptiveWork)
Issue/Roadblock:
- I have tried multiple formats for the syntax of the above and am not getting the correct results
- Using Rich text format text area custom field and updating during custom action shows the value as I want above but the url itself is wrong and shows error: Invalid url
- Using text or url custom fields result with same scenario… full url is shown instead of short name as above AND the url seems incorrect (where ever “&” should exist within url syntax, they are missing in the output file.
ANY advise here would be appreciated. Also, has anyone built a Document Publisher template with links back to the Project successfully in a different manner?
Thank you all in advance and Happy Holidays!
