Hi,

Can anyone let me know how you are managing non-labour resources in Planview Portfolio.
We have labs and equipment which are available for our customers and projects to use.

We want to forecast and track the Lab & Equipment utilisation vs projects.
Labs and equipment are traditional non-labour resources with a calendar (when the equipment can operate), an hourly rate (how much it costs per hour to use).

Ideally, I would like to:

  • Assign a non-labour resource to a project plan so that its utilisation can be recorded and its cost added to the project financial plan (under a non-labour cost account).
  • Have a non-labour “resource” portfolio to track the utilisation and assignment vs time and project for the non-labour resource (which project uses what resource when and at what cost).

How do you set this up in Planview Portfolio? Any experience and insight on this please…
Many thanks

Tony.

@Happytoon Hi,

Non-labour resource management in Planview Portfolio is handled through the inclusion of non-human assets as resources and by using the expenditure tracking features to monitor planned and actual usage and costs of such resources within financial and project plans.
