Inter-project Dependencies

We’re starting to look again at managing dependencies using successor/predecessor relationships across projects/work items. In the past we’ve avoided this due to the risk that a single change from a predecessor project could have a ripple effect across the entire portfolio, impacting everyone’s plans with no control or obvious ‘root’ cause. However I’ve recently been led to believe that there are global parameters which can be set to restrict this ability to reprofile downstream plans as a result of a planning violation without a direct confirmation from the owning Plans PM if dependencies fall out of line, instead some kind of warning or notification is launched. Has anyone used, this? If so I’d be keen to see some support material & any downside impacts that such a constraint may have on, for example, progressing engine processes, wider plan scheduling or CPM

How to Allow Limited Field Editing in AdaptiveWork Tasks?

Hi Planview Community, I hope someone can help us with the following issue in AdaptiveWork: We have a project with some activities where the resource assigned by the project manager occasionally requires support from another resource. We need the main resource (assigned by the project manager) to be able to modify only two fields within the activity: “% Percent Complete” and “Resources” (adding and removing resources). Is there any way to make this strictly possible for these two fields without granting permissions for the entire project or the projects module to the main resource? Thanks for your support. Is there a way to use dataloader to provide viewer permissions on custom object?

Hi, We are using Custom Object inside our projects. We can add new person as a reviewer to the projects using dataloader which gives them permission to view the project data. But is there any way to provide permissions to custom object using dataloader directly? We have created a custom action for now but there is a limitation that it will take 50 rows at a time and we have to click multiple times to provide permissions. If this is possible then please share a sample for dataloader file. I checked the fields but not sure how to provide viewer role.

I need to delete and re-add a team to an existing hub integration

I have a Hub Integration set up between AgilePlace and ADO and need to ‘restart’ the sync with a team I used as a POC for testing. I hit some speedbumps with the POC team and now that the integration is complete, I need to remove & restart the integration for the POC backlog. I have tried removing the Board in AP and the Backlog in ADO, saving and then re-adding everything without any success. Any suggestions on how I can restart the sync over to ADO?

Log item create date not showing on the Logbook view in portfolios

When I export Logbook items to Excel or view them in Work Portfolio Dashboard I can view the ‘create date’. However when I view my Logbook items from the view in Portfolios I can’t see the ‘create date’ or ‘last updated date’ and see no option to add these fields to the view. It seems like a fundamental requirement to have this data displayed. Is there something I’m missing? or is this functionality not available?

How to make report created with MS Report Builder recognize active Work Portfolio

I have created a report using Report Builder, but when I add it to a tile for a Work Portfolio, it does not recognize the active Work portfolio (all work items are pulled instead of just work within the current Work portfolio). Does anyone know how I would make my report recognize the Work portfolio? How about if I want to run it for a single Work entity/item? I suspect it is in the Report Builder parameters, but I’m not sure how to code it. Thank you in advance.

Can you stop resources assigned within Ms Project being automatically approved within Planview Portfolio upon upload?

If we assign named resources to tasks within Ms Project and then upload the schedule back into PlanView Portfolio, it automatically approves the resource to the tasks and bypasses the resource manager requirement to approve. If we assign a resource role this take the correct route of requiring resource manager intervention just not a named resource. Is there any configuration that we can implement that stops this happening?

Viewing Resource Capacity for a Work Portfolio

I’m looking for a report or resource view to identify overallocated resources working on a collection (portfolio) of projects. The Staffing view for a single project (work) is perfect. It shows remaining capacity and includes work both on the selected project as well as any other projects where those resources are allocated. I’m looking for the same view, except I want to select a work portfolio to identify the resources to review. WRK29 - Resource Utilization sort of does this, but it is a bit cumbersome. Does anyone know of another report or screen that I’m missing? I know I can get there with a custom Power BI report, but I’m hoping that there may be a simpler option.

How do your PMs know what is ready for work for other assignees

Some of our workspaces have 100+ cards in them. Now that assignees can group their “My Work” by Dependencies in their “My Overview” it has helped our assignees immensely. However our PMs are left hunting through their workspaces to see which assignees have cards that are ready for work “With done dependencies” so that they can follow up. They can’t go by due dates, as often certain channels of flow in the workspace get behind so the card could be past due but not yet ready for work as it is waiting for the card(s) it is dependent on. Uploading files/pictures via API

Is there any way to upload pictures or files from my local machine via the API? Looking into using Sharepoint’s API as a workaround assuming Adaptivework’s API doesn’t have this capability. But wanted to see if this is a functionality allowed by Adaptivework’s API or if there are any other good workarounds in the community Thanks!

JB ICE Duplicate tasks in the schedule

Hello, Issue Adaptive Work Please review the following project and the attached image, as we were unable to identify what caused the activities to appear duplicated in this schedule. It can be verified in the images that the activities are the same as they have the same ID. We tried to recreate the situation using the Copy/Paste option and we tried the export and import option in Excel and in neither situation were the activities duplicated, so we do not understand what caused this problem. Creating a point in time snapshot of Project Assessment in Portfolios

Wondering if anyone can advise a way to create point in time snapshots of Project Assessments screen. Not sure what the default name is for the configured screen as we have changed it and I don’t know the history. But we have project achievements and the various RAG indicators etc. (Project Status Report). I know I can print to pdf or similar however wondering if there is a way to snapshot and keep the history in the Planview portfolios system. Any suggestions or tips on what others are doing would be appreciated.
