In a previous version of Planview Portfolios, we could open a Work entity and simply click the “expand” arrow beside the Work Breakdown Structure section in the Work Detail tile to see where the entity was located within the primary work structure:Work Detail Tile - Work Breakdown Structure section expandedIn the latest version of Planview Portfolios, I’m trying to find that same information while in Work View. When I asked my administrator, they suggested a workaround: navigate to Work > Show All Work, search for the specific work item, and then click the hierarchy icon to view the full WBS path.This method works, but it requires several extra steps compared to the previous version, where the information was readily accessible with a single click.Is there a more efficient way to view the WBS location of a work entity in the current version?

Dear Community, Has anyone else noticed anything strange when it comes to allocation details? Last year, one of our users reported that their name appeared in an allocation they couldn’t have created, they had no access to the resource or the project. After some analysis, we found out that the user wasn’t even logged into the system that day!We immediately opened a case with Customer Care, but so far, despite many attempts to prove that the issue is not on our side, we still don’t have a resolution and the data has been unreliable for more than a year!We even built a dataset from the allocation table to check for discrepancies between the created_by, requested_by, and approved_by columns. It turns out that in the requested_by column, there are cases where a person without the proper profile somehow managed to create a request for an allocation. They simply don’t have the right grants or role feature to perform the action.Customer Care suggested this might be related to copying project

I recently finished updating a report that has a tile. A subscription that was set with the old report still goes out as the old report even though the tile had been updated with the new report. We had to go and remove all the subscriptions that were set prior to updating that report. 

Have you had recent problems with PowerBI reporting using Logbook data?We successfully launched Logbooks back in March for 3 ‘light touch’ areas (Lessons Learned, Actions and Decisions) as a test & learn exercise before we tackled a more challenging transition for Risks, Issues, etc.We successfully built a Lessons Learned PowerBI dashboard using the OData links to a specific Log type, splicing the data with the Strategy information to produce outputs for each of our strategic areas of focus, much to the delight of of our user community.Then on 8 September the PBI reports just stopped refreshing.  Nothing had changed on either the Logbooks side, the PBI side or any of the associated strategy data.This was reported immediately but 6 weeks later we are no closer to identifying what the issue is or why the.  Apparently there’s some failure to connect. We are having to pull the implementation of logbook back because users are complaining they are not tell what projects logs are associated.  We would have to add a field and manually type this in.  In the past the CRIs always list the name of the project they were associated with.  We can do Items with in a project but do to standard templates every project can have something with the same name. And pull anything by Portfolio is not doable. has anyone found any work arounds for these. Users love the idea of logbook but these are show stoppers.  . 

In the Roadmaps tool, any configuration changes I’m making is no longer saving.  Has anyone experienced this?

When a task is copied over and pasted in a WBS, the paste option window opens up and there are several fields that are already preselected. We would like to have these fields to come deselected so that users can pause long enough to assess what it is they are copying over. Has anybody received feedback from users like this?  We think it would be helpful if they could change the default settings so that the checkboxes are deselected by default, but we’d be interested in other users’ thoughts.  

We utilize requirements for future year forecasting and budgets.  We attach specific resource types to requirements.  I cannot find any “out of the box” reports that pull the Requirements Criteria in.  Does anyone know of any reports that can pull this information?  Thank You,

Hi Community, I have a question about best practices for planning and profiling requirements/assignments. PMs very often profile requirements in our projects. However, it sometimes happens that activities need to be extended. In such a situation, extending the activity by changing the Schedule Finish or directly extending the Duration causes the profiling set by the PM to be completely disrupted, as the system itself tries to adjust the data to the new end date. The PM would like it to remain as originally set and to be able to profile additional days/months manually. Is there any functionality that I am not aware of that allows this? 

In a configured screen you are able to create a component that is an Internal Reference Link.  We have this today as in Internal Reference Link to Risk & Issues.  We are migrating our Risks and Issues to Logbook, and would like to replace that Internal Reference Link to Logbook.  I did not see this choice being available.  Will this be an option in the future?  Thank you...

We are trying to limit which users can utilize which attributes within the portfolio definition. We have restricted the “View” and “Edit” features of the attribute, but all users can still see the attributes we are trying to restrict to a specific group. Is there anyway to lock down the access to these attributes on the portfolio definition screen?

Hello Portfolios Community,This might have been a change within the last week or so as I did not notice this for the September release notes recently. Previously when navigating to release notes we’d navigate to Customer Success Center > Documentation > Portfolios> Product Releases > New Feature Upgrade Guide and be presented with a grid. The grid would have 3 columns, the major section (i.e General Updates, Work, Resources), the sub-section (i.e FastTrack Analytics, Data Sources) and then the list of updates and the date (month YYYY) in which they released. Clicking on a sub-section would then take you to a separate page for that sub-section with all the headings for release items as well as additional details and screenshots (similar to how we currently see them with the monthly releases). Currently when we navigate to New Feature Upgrade Guide we have a dropdown list with the major sections as collapsible but no navigation to the secondary sub-section page. Question:We have a custom field called Initiative Type with multiple options. One of the options is Minor Budget Request (MBR).When a user selects MBR under Initiative Type, we would like the Project Sub Type field to display only two specific options: Business Planning and Out of Cycle Initiative.If the user selects any other Initiative Type, the Project Sub Type field should display the usual/default set of options.Has anyone configured this kind of conditional dependency between fields in Planview? If so, what is the best way to achieve it?

I have a number of tiles set up for specific individuals and/or roles.  For ease. I’d like to link to them directly, from Planview.Me.  IK can’t find any way to get the direct URL, and the browser URL does not change based on the tile selected.  Is there a way to do this?  Thank you.

The data point of Remaining Planned, on the timesheet, has been a big topic here at NASCO this year. There was an issue with it that was introduced in the December release and since then a few fixes with one or two modifications. I’m curious how other Planview customers expect this data point to work as I’d like to get additional perspectives to help broaden our thought process. I know we can get used to the way things used to work, but I still want to ensure it is something our end users can easily understand.My expectations would be:Remaining Planned in timesheets that are integrated should not change and should reflect what the remaining effort looked like at the time the timesheet was submitted. This helps with researching also. Today this data point changes and always matches what is on the current active timesheet. Remaining Planned would reflect the total overage ((total actual + un-progressed time) - approved effort) thus if over the last 3 weeks the resource continues to trac

We noticed this month our timesheets now default to the beginning of the month. Even if it has been signed and approved. I tested in one of our sandbox where we have the cutoff set for May 31st and the timesheets default to the beginning of June. Anyone else seeing this?

Hi All,    Has anyone had any luck or experience developing a Mass Upload/Update tool on their own to interact with Portfolio’s open API’s? I heard someone mentioned in another forum that they knew of a few companies that got this to work. I know Planview utlizes a tool themselves to update attributes in Mass from an excel sheet (or at least it’s prepped in a custom excel sheet). It would really help out with support if we were able to make these changes to any attribute, structure, resource information.  Just curious if anyone had any luck incolving any of this.

Anyone else having issues after the July Release?  Our user base cannot view the entire Work Details screen. Our screen is configured to use Smart logic - Sections of the screen are visible based on work classification type. Our end users are not able to see sections based on work classifications, only the top section which is open to all. Strangely, admins cannot see this issue, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot.
