At Moffitt we are trying to find out how other organization are tracking their time for Pre-project planning. We want to create a standard process for this type of work.

Dear Community,We are having issues with Job Stream teking x25 longer than usual and timing out due to the following errors log in the log files.“Skipping Financial Plan. Reason = Error for field AltStructureKey: Execution Timeout Expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. { Source Row='0';  }” Has anyone had this issue and know how to resolve? Kind regards

when configuring a new screen and selecting Add Component, the internal reference link an basic info are greyed out, why is this and what can I do to use them?

Hi All, I am looking for you expertise - please help.We have weekly timesheet time periods. We submit and automatically approve our timesheet on Friday CoP or on the last day of the month. Progression runs automatically every Sunday night and at the end of month.Finance consolidates the timesheet actuals at the end of each month (extracting data from Planview).We want to lock timesheets so that they can no longer be disapproved/edited once the month is closed.We can disapprove/edit timesheets for the current and future months but not for last month.How can I do this in Portfolio please???How to you lock timesheet / cut off period etcI look forward to your help on this.Many thanks in advanceTony. 

I am wondering whether anybody uses this Backlog functionality within Portfolios for waterfall projects or is this mainly used for Agile projects?

Looking for way to Emil time approvers based on the who is reports to field to get a notification when their employees have timesheets that need approved

We’re starting to look again at managing dependencies using successor/predecessor relationships across projects/work items.  In the past we’ve avoided this due to the risk that a single change from a predecessor project could have a ripple effect across the entire portfolio, impacting everyone’s plans with no control or obvious ‘root’ cause.  However I’ve recently been led to believe that there are global parameters which can be set to restrict this ability to reprofile downstream plans as a result of a planning violation without a direct confirmation from the owning Plans PM if dependencies fall out of line, instead some kind of warning or notification is launched.  Has anyone used, this? If so I’d be keen to see some support material & any downside impacts that such a constraint may have on, for example, progressing engine processes, wider plan scheduling or CPM

When I export Logbook items to Excel or view them in Work Portfolio Dashboard I can view the ‘create date’. However when I view my Logbook items from the view in Portfolios I can’t see the ‘create date’  or ‘last updated date’ and see no option to add these fields to the view.  It seems like a fundamental requirement to have this data displayed.  Is there something I’m missing? or is this functionality not available?

I have created a report using Report Builder, but when I add it to a tile for a Work Portfolio, it does not recognize the active Work portfolio (all work items are pulled instead of just work within the current Work portfolio).  Does anyone know how I would make my report recognize the Work portfolio?  How about if I want to run it for a single Work entity/item?  I suspect it is in the Report Builder parameters, but I’m not sure how to code it.  Thank you in advance. 

I’m looking for a report or resource view to identify overallocated resources working on a collection (portfolio) of projects.  The Staffing view for a single project (work) is perfect.  It shows remaining capacity and includes work both on the selected project as well as any other projects where those resources are allocated.  I’m looking for the same view, except I want to select a work portfolio to identify the resources to review.  WRK29 - Resource Utilization sort of does this, but it is a bit cumbersome.  Does anyone know of another report or screen that I’m missing?  I know I can get there with a custom Power BI report, but I’m hoping that there may be a simpler option.

I am the Admin for our organization and I have a need to see who created a work Portfolio.  How do I go about seeing that information.

We’ve recently implemented Logbook and configured it with our PowerBI dashboard. For the Risk type log we mimicked the values for Response Strategy and Escalation Level in both Planview Admin and also in Portfolios. Problem: On the Risk Matrix report page in PowerBI (on the bottom Table visualisation), Escalation Level values are populating however Response Strategy is not.   Strangely, on the ‘risk by Response Strategy’ Funnel visualisation, the values are appearing correctly (see below). I appreciate suggestions or help in troubleshooting. (I’m a PowerBI beginner)

I’d be keen to hear from any Planview customers who have particularly complex Role hierarchies and Rate cards to understand how you cope with all of the day to day maintenance.We have around 10,000 resources, split across 350+ roles with a constant demand for more to be added. Associated with this is a need for more accurate cost recovery, so an ever-increasing number of rate cards which would potentially run at an individual level or using multiple attributes which Portfolios doesn’t appear to support. Combined with a constant churn or individuals between roles and timing impacts of when individuals can move roles without impacting their timesheets, this is becoming a challenge which will ultimately be unsustainable.With the benefit of hindsight I think it’s fair to say we may have structured our resources differently to limit/standardise the number of roles and that’s currently under review, but what I can’t understand is how we can address the Role and Rate manageme

This is more directed specifically at Planview but good awareness for other customers as well. When utilizing SOAPUI calls there are some characters that cannot be passed. It is our understanding that per Planview's security rules that PVMaster password can no longer be something the customer identifies but instead an autogenerated password that Planview creates and then advises the customer on what that password is. When using this new password within SOAPUI calls it has to be wrapped in CDATA tag because of the characters needing to be passed.  Why would an autogenerated password be created that violates character rules?  Ideally this would exclude some characters so this additional step is not needed.I thought about adding this as an enhancement request but my assumption is that the number of participants within that campaign that understand this technical component would never allow it to reach the required number of votes to be reviewed further.  If

I am quite new to PV and I wonder what URL parameters are available in Planview. Explicitly I tried to create a link based on a Work ID. Unfortunately, it seems that only the Project Code (sc=12345) is used in the URLs. For the end-user, only the Work ID is know and available in our overviews. This makes it difficult to create direct links for example in automatically created reminder mails. Is there any documentation which parameters are available? I currently have my CRI details (Risk Details, Issue Details, Change Details) configures screens all with the ‘Legacy Screen’ tick next to them. I understood that when I open these in Design mode that I should be prompted to upgraded them.  This isn’t the case and I’m not able find any info on how to trigger the upgrade of these configured screens.Any help appreciated

Dear Community Group,Due to changes in CBS1, we had to add a new layer. That's where the trouble began - we needed to modify the association of financial elements with CBS1. After quite the adventure, we successfully made the changes. Neither we nor CustomerCare can see any elements that still have financial data and running queries returns no results.However, when trying to use the Insert/Paste Under function, we get the following error:"Insert/Paste Under not allowed because Structure is used by financial planning."Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Financial data has been cleared, and all checks come back empty. If anyone has faced this and found a solution, we'd really appreciate your insights!CustomerCare hasn’t been very helpful beyond referring us to consulting, which, according to them, uses the same verification tools they do.Thanks in advance!Michal 

We have a unique actual time billing process that requires us to pull actual time data from Planview Portfolios before the end of the month for some, but not all of our groups reporting time.  This is typically in the last week of the month.   We attempt to use the Cutoff Date to limit user’s ability to disapprove and edit timesheets that have already been billed.  Other groups however,  do not bill and would prefer to apply a different cutoff date,  typically further in the past.  We don’t see a way to adjust cutoff dates by Providing Org, Resource Node, or some other Resource Attribute.   Curious if anyone has a similar Use Case and/or ideas to solution this scenario.  

I am curious what other customer do to provide read/view only access in Portfolios.   We have two types of roles but neither is quite right.   We go between the Team member role but that roles doesn’t allow access to Strategy and Programs or a Requestor role but this role doesn’t allow the user to create/maintain portfolios.    We would love to use the Requestor license more but are worried about the administration of the portfolios that is needed to support this type of role.     Any thoughts appreciated.

Hello.  My use case is that a) I need a means to pull financials (rates) being forecast for individual resources by activity / project.  I know I can leverage RES24 which you can total up costs and list the rate associated with resource (by activity / project) but the monthly view appears to only allow views for hours, days, and FTE.  I’d like to quickly see costs.   To that end, my second (and most important) use case is that on top of that I would also like to include actuals for months prior in the year.  Again, RES24 can do this but the actuals appear on another line on the report versus the same line which lists the work, prior hours, and future allocated hours.  Any way around all of this or perhaps a different report?  Thank you!!
