We were recently asked what are archiving process was and we were not sure why/when archiving makes sense? Does anyone have suggestions about what archiving criteria should be for projects and what the frequency should be?
We have email notifications enabled in Planview, but currently only for timesheet users. This is because the overdue timesheet notification is also sent to people who aren’t timesheet users but have a resource associated with their account. We’d like to enable other notifications as well, but unfortunately, Planview once again proves to have very limited options in this area, as notifications cannot be configured based on roles. One workaround we’ve considered is setting up automatic timesheets for users who are not timesheet users but have a resource assigned to them. However, this feels like yet another awkward workaround. We’re curious if anyone has a better idea or uses custom notifications (if those even make sense in this context). Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated!
We update our test environment to version May 2024 so we could start testing out Planview.Me & Planview Admin. I looked in the success center on how to enable it but can’t find anything. I also tried logging into https://id.planview.com but I am having no luck by resetting my password or using my credentials. Do I need to create a new ticket so this can be enabled? I am just curious if anyone else has had this issue.
Hello Community, I am trying to build a custom PPR that will send an docx report of a Project. Within the PPR template, there are some fields that I want to generate based on intake form variables I create within the custom action of the PPR. I know this can be done by creating custom fields and populating the variables within the fields but I do not want to use the custom field quota as its about 5 custom fields I would need. Is it possible to generate variables as part of the PPR intake form and pass them to the docx. If so, what is the comment reference format required within the PPR template? Here is an example of what I am using to generate the Doc Publisher but the variables in red and bold below are not populating. However, the File Name below in green, which uses variables from the custom action does work. I am certain my syntax in the template file are simply incorrect. Does anyone have any examples of how to populate the docx with variable data? GetCurrentIntegrationServerUrl
We have had a few requests lately where a leader wants to see all the projects of a certain criteria - for example: every project using Artificial Intelligence or every project with compliance components. These projects could be across the whole enterprise. So far, we have been creating a new attribute on the project to enable this grouping via a portfolio. We are wondering if there is any other way to do this? The concern is that we will end up with quite a list of these types of attributes at the rate we are going. Thanks
After getting an insufficient response through Customer Case, I thought I’d ask here. When someone tries the PV link and doesn’t have access, the error received says:“To request access to Planview, Please log a Help Desk incident. In the incident description, please include the following words: Please task this incident to the Planview support team. Your request will be forwarded to your manager and the Planview Administrator for approval.” I am wondering if this is the message all customers have displayed when access hasn’t been created yet? This message doesn’t really apply to our processes so would like to change it but were told it is not possible to change. This doesn’t make sense. Thanks .
Hello everyone,Has anyone else noticed that the RES12 - Pending Timesheets report doesn’t display missing timesheets if a resource has never submitted a single timesheet?I’d love to hear if anyone has found alternative solutions (aside from using the "Resources Never Submitted Timesheets" tile). While that tile technically helps, it adds extra work and limits our use of the out-of-the-box report, which ideally should include this data.Has anyone else been forced to use a custom solution instead of the FastTrack report because of this issue? Would really appreciate any insights or workarounds that have worked for you!

We are currently evaluating Logbook, and a question came up from one of our managers. Once Logbook goes live, is there a way to disable the current CRI module? Or do we have to remove permissions and disable tiles/reports?
Our Governance team is looking to update to a more “gated” process. We have seen some information on the Success Center regarding Stage Gates in Portfolios and I see that there is a Gated Work Dashboard available however I do not see a lot of information on configuring Portfolios to support this type of configuration. I am curious if others are using stage gates and how you have set it up, if you have any documentation you can direct me to, etc. We have used phases as sort of “gates” in the past and can go with that option again, but if there is a better way, or a specific way of doing it in Planview we would like to pursue/understand that as well. Thanks!Robin
I'm trying to use AgilePlace to visualize lifecycle flow of digital products (applications) stored in Outcomes structure in Planview Portfolios. My idea was to use Portfolios connector in Planview Hub, however this connector doesn't support Outcomes. Do you know if Outcomes structure elements can be exposed from Portfolios in any way to synchronize Outcomes from Portfolios with cards in AgilePlace?
hello; Are we able to integrate directly between JIRA and Portfolios in a bidirectional manner? Has anyone established this connection and did you connect at the JIRA story or Feature level? Thanks
Hello Planview Community,I’m reaching out to see if anyone here is tracking missing timesheets in their cases, specifically focusing on the number of unreported hours that will not be recharged.Currently, we rely on two tables: time_planned and time_reported. However, we're encountering some limitations:time_planned only shows the scheduled effort values per assignment and time reporting periods as they were prior to each progressing cycle. time_reported doesn’t display records if a resource has never submitted a timesheet, meaning we’re unable to track missing timesheets until the resource logs at least one timesheet. This also impacts the RES12 report, which has the same limitation. We've already reported this as a bug and, after a lengthy process, it was acknowledged as an issue. However, there’s no clear timeline for when this will be resolved. Is anyone else in a similar situation, where they need to assess the financial impact of missing timesheets? If so, we’d be very interested i
We have a user that was canceling a work item. A pop up warning appeared saying “Confirm update - work status to completed”. We assumed it would say “Confirm update - work status to canceled”. Can we change the warning message or is it working as designed or do we need to open a PV support case?attaching a screenshot
Is there a way to Bulk update a project’s Lifecycle Role for a # of projects within Portfolios? Trying to see how we can do this on our own without having to have Planview do it through RAS hours.
I’m curious if other customers have shown any of their users how to connect to a Tabular Model via Excel. If so, do you ever need to know who is accessing the TM in this manner? We currently do this and in order to understand who may need additional communication when there is an outage, or something has changed I feel there should be some way of capturing who has access the TM. Before I do an enhancement request I thought I would see if others have had a similar need. Thanks,Pam

In case anyone is not aware….Planview has an OOB stored procedure called ip.psp_user_del_settings. This stored procedure is called/ran when: In configure users, if you click on "remove" instead of "deactivate" then psp_user_delete will be called, which, in turn, calls psp_user_del_settings for the user to be removed. It will not be called if they merely "deactivate" the user, which is the recommended action when a user leaves the company.Note: As this stored procedure is currently written it will delete all tile reports that were last updated by the person who may be getting deleted. If this is a PV Admin who has published or updated a tile report then that means if they leave the company and either the Admin removing them chooses remove vs deactivate, or if your company uses web services and calls this stored procedure for any recurring clean-up, then you could lose a lot of tile reports. Planview is aware of the concern of this process as we have a currently active case with them.

Hi everyone,I’m curious if the behavior we are experiencing is correct. We built templates for some of our projects, which are very detailed and include all the resources that should be involved for each task. We noticed that when creating a new project from the template, it duplicates the template. So far, so good—this is working as expected. However, if the template has any values assigned at the project level for any of the resources, we observe different behaviors when creating a project from it:In some cases, project assignment values for the resource are assigned after the project’s due date. In other cases, random project assignment values are entered for the resource.Has anyone experienced such behaviors? Is this normal? Thanks!
For customers of large groups where you have multiple configurations across different BUs I am wondering if you have any best practices to share around creating new attributes vs sharing attributes between BUs.We have a few BUs that we know we want to do reporting on across the BUs so we are requiring some standard shared data elements. But there are other BUs that are very much stand alone. We are wondering with new configurations being created, do we just have all the new attributes be specific to that BU’s implementation?Interested in any other customer is struggling with this issue.

When determining the right column set for the Plan screen when you are building a schedule you need to consider your process .You want to put the most commonly used structures first. When setting up your schedule you will need to use Schedule Start, Schedule Finish and Schedule duration. You will use these three the most in determining your schedule.Schedule Start is the start date for the remainder of the work, Schedule Duration is the remainder of the duration. If the task is complete the Schedule columns will be blank. I have added in Actual/Schedule Start , Actual/Schedule Finish and Duration at complete. These three fields will show you the information on a project that has been started. If the Task has been started the Actual Start will show if it has not the Schedule Start and Actual Schedule Start will be the same. These Fields cannot be edited.Duration at complete is calculated for the entire duration of a task. For a task that is not complete it is from the Actual Start t
Hey, new to Portfolios administration here. Is it possible to move PPL level work within the Work Structure? With Resources, we can cut/paste a resource to a new branch. However, with work there doesn’t seem to be a cut or copy option to move an entire project to another branch in the structure.
