I am wondering what sets the default Work Portfolio.  No matter what the last Work Portfolio I view, when I come back into Work, this one Work Portfolio always comes up.  I no longer care about it so i guess I can delete it but I’m wondering what is causing it to always be my default.  

Over the last month, our Job Stream service has shut down twice over the weekend and not come back on. This is not accompanied by any error messages. This occurred first overnight August 3rd-4th, and most recently the night of August 28th-29th. Both times we’ve had to submit a Customer Care ticket to get the job schedule service back up and running.  My questions are:Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to prevent it?  Is there a way to restart the service on our own?

I wanted to understand how this project tracking against plan works. Actual vs forecast/budget etc

In our resource management process, the requirement is created; and the supervisor (resource manager) allocates.  After the allocation is created from the requirement, the supervisors often update the allocation.  The issue is that in the staffing screen, the supervisor cannot see (or at least we have not determined how to view) what remains in that requirement.  Therefore, supervisors are OFTEN over allocating to the requirement.  Bottomline is there a way to display the requirement’s remaining effort?

I am building a tile to show any projects opened in the last two weeks.    Is there any way to do this in a tile?   I am using a fixed date now but this will need to be manually updated every week.  Any ideas appreciated.

Is there a way to do scenario planning in a schedule without it messing up my actual schedule

Is there a way to have an attributes parent level available to add as a column? I was hoping the Generate parent level fields would make that level available but it looks like that is only for the Primary structures. 

Each year we run a cycle of annual planning, looking forward to the next 3 years or so, assessing existing and new candidate strategies and allocating budgets - an iterative approach which can take some months to complete, balancing off the ambition vs the budget. But this isn’t just about balancing the budget - Part of this exercise focuses on the resource capacity to manage the change, and whilst this should play a critical part in sequencing and ‘doability’ planning, we're finding this difficult to perform within Planview & keen to understand how others take resource capacity into account. I assume we could make use of the functionality on ICP, but to do this, we’d need to spec out all candidate projects - using planning best practice that would mean building representative WBS's for everything, even when solutions are unclear, then creating the requirements against the WBS. Hello - Many moons ago Planview used to publish an Administration Guide.  Is there a comprehensive guide today that I can download?  I struggle using Customer Success Center’s search capabilities.

A couple of weeks ago, somebody managed to switch off the ‘Use ProjectPlace’ global setting which supports the syncing of PP cards with Portfolios (we’re still trying to work out how this happened...)That’s left us with 2 weeks worth of card updates which haven’t flowed through to Portfolios.  Many of these cards are now closed so will never be touched again.Does anyone know - Is there a way to force-sync ProjectPlace cards to update Portfolios actions?

Hi Planview friends,Does anyone have a quick reference guide for their end users on when to use which product to use for what? We use Planview Portfolios, ProjectPlace, AgilePlace, IdeaPlace and Roadmaps.  We are a large organization so we frequently are talking about “What is Planview”, “What Product should I use for my specific purpose”, “What is the difference between AgilePlace and ProjectPlace?”.  Although I feel I have a good handle on explaining them, it does take a bit and I wondered if there was a good one pager or site to address these questions most efficiently.Thank you in advance for your help!

We are newly getting into PowerBI reporting and would like increase the datamart update frequency from once a day.    Does anyone have experience with this?  If so, what frequency is working for you?   Thanks!

Does anyone use a “template” for their project Plan/Schedule? We use a very similar plan for a large number of our projects and it would be nice to have a template that these project plans could be built from and then dates and specifics just filled in. I don’t see a way to do that other than having a “Template” project in the system and having the PM go into that project and copy the Plan and paste it into their project. Is this the most efficient way to accomplish the task? Let me know if you have any other ideas.Thanks!!

Has anyone tried using WalkMe with Portfolios? We looked into it a while back and found it not to be worth the effort, but that wasn’t recent. I’m wondering if it has improved. It seems to me that there was something about Portfolios that made it hard to get content associated with specific screens or parts of the UI. Knowing some pros and cons would be very helpful.Questions include:Is it cost prohibitive? Does it require specific skills to set up? How much work is involved in getting it up and running? Is the maintenance load heavy?Thanks!Sue Ann Kendall

Whilst our PMs follow good discipline on the route of Require, Reserve, Allocate, and start with the best intentions, once the project is in full flow, on going management of those assignments tend to drop off. Does anyone know of a good training page / summary, perhaps, an equivalent call out diagram to the “Elements of the Timesheet Screen” in the success centre, which can help PMs manage their assignments on their Portfolios project?

I have posted before that our users are struggling with the progressing engine. Currently it runs every Sunday evening.     We are considering reducing the frequency that it runs to monthly.   Has anyone else done this?   Thanks!

I am looking for an option that will allow me to create URLs as a Global Link in which the URL does not take up two lines.  Is that possible?Help is greatly appreciated.

We have two financial models, one for programs and the other for projects.When we do the planning portfolio in the capacity part, we select a program and the financial model of programs appears naturally.In the demand part a predefined project financial model appears and I cannot select the new one I created

We’re just testing the June release of Portfolios and see the Product Switcher ‘enhancement’ that brings access to the associated Planview Admin modules means we no longer have the ability to navigate directly from Portfolios to EA (EA is not yet on PV Admin).Has anyone discovered an alternative workaround to this which doesn’t involve giving our EA users different URLs to manually navigate to?This seems like a significant oversight and is potentially a showstopper for us taking monthly updates until it is resolved! I’d be keen to hear Planview’s reasoning as to why this navigation to EA has been lost, or what alternatives can be provided 

In what seems like a never-ending task of hunting down Resource Managers who keep corrupting our Project plans through various shortcuts they’ve found, I’ve just run into a new symptoms I’ve not spotted previously and have no idea how they’ve done it.Here we have resource allocated with a Scheduled Finish date AND and Actual Finish date - My understanding was that, whatever you do within Planview, it’s one or the other.  Task is Open/Active, resources have previous time recorded against the requirement, and views from the PM that somebody has recently gone in and messed up their plan.  This is a scenario which I just can’t reproduce. Anyone any clues what they would have done to drive different dates into each?  

Is there a way to get a notification on a subscription to know if it successfully completed or failed?

HI,  we are using Portfolios without Timekeeping and with spotty Resource management usage.  Our PMs are struggling with the Progressing Engine (and Scheduling Engine) moving task dates.   We are considering if we should turn off the Progressing Engine because we are not sure the value for us.   Has anyone turned it off or is considering doing so?
