We have Project Managers with “Full User” licenses and Engineers with “Team Member” licenses who work on the PMs’ Projects. We’re finding that the Engineers (Team Members) cannot break down a Project Task they’ve been assigned into sub-tasks. The only type of Task they can create in AdaptiveWork is a standalone “To Do” type Task (one that is not associated to a Project).I wasn’t sure if that is the intended behavior for a Team Member or if we have a Permission preventing that task creation. The help for Licenses is not crystal clear on that, though it sort of implies “no task-creation for Team Members” (and trying to understand the relationships between User Types and Licenses is every more mind-boggling 🤕).Would love an authoritative answer.
Hello again! How do I change the currentuser() to display plain text First Name Last Name? Thank you and regardsJess
Hello Planview Community, Appreciate any advice on how Admin’s can set a percentage on a resource’s available capacity. For example, for Managers, we’d like to indicate that their available capacity for Billable work is 50% of their calculated capacity, so that when reporting Billability, it only takes their Billable Time / 50% of their capacity? Thank you very much!
Extension Healthcare, a leading healthcare solutions provider, has grown significantly year-over-year. Their clinical communications and collaboration software has been implemented in 200+ hospitals since the launch in 2009. However, their existing basic project management software was limiting further expansion. Extension Healthcare also grappled with a variety of ad hoc communication tools and channels, which was causing an inconsistent and inefficient approach to collaboration. To solve its key challenges, Leo Lovely, Extension Healthcare’s Director of Professional Services, and his team evaluated various project management solutions, and after a trial period AdaptiveWork was chosen. “We took a phased, crawl, walk and run approach to implementation, and added functionality as we moved forward. While we wanted to get up and running as quickly as possible, we didn’t want to overwhelm our professional services associates with an excess of new functionality or workflow changes – especial

Hi there! Does anyone have experience configuring a workflow that sends an email notification to a timesheet reporter’s Direct Manager upon their timesheet submission? Goal is for the Direct Managers to receive an email notification that their Direct Report’s submitted a timesheet entry. Is it possible to trigger this for a specific project too?Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks so much!
I am curious what the recommended practice is, or how others may handle such a situation. For context, think in terms of a fixed price services project, meaning we are incentivized to be as efficient as possible. With that said, reality is often different from initial plans, either for better or worse as far as Work/Cost ‘budget estimates’ go to produce deliverables. As a project manager, I want to keep my project plan as accurate as possible, for both communicating to my customer as well as my executives: % completes, remaining effort/durations, forecasted costs, variance from budgets, etc. So the question is, what is best practice or how do others update a work plans remaining hours in order to have an accurate forecasted cost (lets assume we use the Update Forecast feature to do these). The main 2 options I am aware of are:Remaining Effort - Manually update ‘Remaining Effort’ for a work item (i.e. if ‘Work’ was 100 hours, we have charged 50 hours, but based on progress we believe th
HiI’d like to do a bulk import of expenses sheets via Dataloader and to specify the project they relate to, we are currently using a custom field as the “project id”. However I can’t find how to write a WFR which will check the Project ID (from the excel spreadsheet / import process) and will add the reference to the right Project.Any idea how? Thanks,Manuel
Hello Planview Community. Does anyone have experience setting capacity for various user groups? We’ve set our global settings for all employee capacity to be x hour days (i.e. 7.5) but this varies by region. I’ve tried setting the group calendar hours to be 8 hours for specific region groups but it’s not reflected in the user’s available capacity (still shows 7.5 H for example). Would appreciate any experience you all may have with setting various capacities by user/group. Thank you!
Hello,I’m trying to generate a report that would display the number of people in each User Group. I have been able to get a chart to display this information but am unable to produce a table with this information. Does anyone know how to display this in a table? The parameters I have for the chart are as follows:Report on: UserInclude related data: GroupChart Type: StandardX-axis: User.Groups.NameY- axis: Display Number of People Thanks for any advice!Carey Petrie
Hi all! Have any of you attempted to create a report or dashboard to track when requests were last updated by a user (as opposed to the system)? Essentially, we are looking to monitor the progress of the requests we've received.Initially, we thought the process would be straightforward: build a report, create higlights → summary type “Count”, field “Title”, with formula: DateDiff(Today(),$LastUpdatedOn,”d”)>15However, we've encountered a challenge as requests are updated daily by the system. To address this, we considered adding a filter to the report: Last Updated By → Is not one of → SystemUnfortunately, this solution is not yielding the desired results 😅.Q: Do any of you have thoughts on this or have you experienced similar challenges? Any workarounds you can suggest would be much appreciated.Wishing you all happy holidays!Best regards, Maca
Hello everyone! We have implemented a demand management process for our Programme Managers to upload the requests they receive from the business. We have noticed some similarities among requests coming from different areas. Any ideas on how to link them to avoid duplication? Thanks!
Hello,When employees leave our company (are terminated) their User State in AdaptiveWork changes to Suspended on their termination date via an automatic custom workflow. When we go into AdaptiveWork to reduce their assignment to projects/tasks to 0%, we can’t update the assignment because the User is Suspended. Some of our projects go on for a very long time, so it is confusing that these resources appear to be assigned after their termination date.I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue and how they address it? We have a large number of employees and terminations are not always announced/shared with enough notice for the AdaptiveWork user to update assignments prior to the termination date. We are also interested if anyone has developed an automatic process to change the assignment of terminated employees to 0% on all projects/tasks on the day after the termination date.Thank you,Carey Petrie
Does anyone have a good change management plan template? How do you manage change management teams through Planview?
I created a custom panel, but cannot get the font type and size to match what the standard related items panels look like. (I did inspect the out of the box related items panels and copied the styles into the Advanced → Style for my custom panel). Can someone tell me what's wrong/what I’m missing with my style code? .tbl-container {margin-top:10px;}.tbl {border-collapse:collapse; width:100%; background:#fff;}.tbl td {padding:7px 5px; border-bottom:1px solid #d5d5d5;}.tbl .lbl {color:rgb(0, 132, 137);}.tbl .lbl {letter-spacing: -0.3px; }.tbl .lbl {font-weight: 600; }.tbl .lbl {font-stretch: 100;}.tbl .lbl {font-size: 12px; }.tbl .lbl {font-family:12px/bold "Muli","Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif}.tbl .lbl {font-style: normal; }.tbl .lbl {text-decoration: none !important}.tbl .val {font-weight: bold; }.tbl .val {font-family:12px/normal "Muli","Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif}.tbl .val {letter-spacing: -0.3px; }.tbl tr:first-child td {border-top:1px solid #d5d5
Hi AllWe currently have setup & utilise a range of Custom Panels across various objects e.g. Cases & Projects within the ‘Classic’ UI. Are there any plans to enable the ability to expose Custom Panels within the Hybrid Work UI?In the interim, users can switch between ‘Classic’ & ‘Hybrid Work’ to see the Custom Panels we have enabled, but it would be great to see these Custom Panels within Hybrid Work as well. Thank you!
In this post you'll get to know Tufin, a network security policy management company who was facing a number of challenges as it experienced rapid growth. Lack of visibility into projects and resources, inconsistent project delivery, and unpredictable outcomes were making it difficult for Tufin to keep up with demand and manage their business effectively.Challenges they were facing:Lack of visibility into projects Lack of repeatable standardized processes Inability to see revenue until projects were completedResolution :To address these challenges,William Chernock, Director of PMO–Americas and APAC in Tufin’s Professional Services group, led Tufin on a journey through a sequential series of mile markers: making things visible, repeatable, and predictable, by implementing Planview PSA, a professional services automation solution. It provided Tufin with a number of capabilities, including:Standardized project delivery processes Real-time visibility into project data Advanced forecasting c
We have sharepoint integrated with Planview. We are going to link all projects’ sharepoint sites under the hub. The only issue I find so far is that I can not use the search function to choose a sharepoint item. In the screenshot example below, I tried to search different key words like “Integration”. The result is always “No Files”.I wonder whether this is currently a limitation because sharepoint is only linked and the “search” function only works when finding things locally within Clarizen?

Hey everyone,I'm currently focused on optimizing our employees' workload. I've been tasked with calculating the bank holidays each user has, which we need to deduct from their total working hours. While the app handles this deduction once public holidays are loaded, I'm looking to display this figure in a report. My approach involves creating a custom duration field to showcase this in hours. However, I'm facing a challenge in determining the bank holiday hours. Has anyone encountered a similar situation or have any recommendations? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!Carlos Zarate
Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well.We have a widget for a dashboard that gets sent monthly to our users, which is password protected. When a user enters the password incorrectly, an email gets triggered to all accounts with an admin profile. I was wondering a couple of things:Can I edit the recipients of the message? If so, where? Is it possible to know who tried to access the widget but couldn’t?Thank you so much,
Have you ever come across terms in AdaptiveWork that you don't know the meaning of? Look no further! We've put together this Glossary of terms to help you and your team(s). It covers both the basics and some of the more advanced terms. Did we miss any? Drop your own terms and definitions in the comments below! Hey Gang, We’ve had a few leavers in different teams since implementing AW. As such, I have either suspended or deleted their accounts. However i’ve noticed that this does not remove them from the Capacity module which is very confusing. I cannot see a function that will only allow me to look at active resources, so... Is there a way to remove them completely?
Hey PV Community, I just wanted pick your brains if I may: I’m in the process of pulling department specific dashboards together and alot of them want to see resource allocation for their teams in a dashboard. We have allocation broken out by team/ resource type but are unsure on how to get this in a graphical report that we can put into a Dashboard. At present I can only see how to share the entire capacity view, but can’t see how to segment by the teams. Has anyone done this? If so, how did you achieve it?
